Pune airport’s new terminal building awaits BCAS approvals | Pune News – Times of India

PUNE: Pune airport director Santosh Dhoke today said that the BCAS is scrutinising all documents pertaining to the opening of the new terminal building of the Pune airport.
“Waiting for final security clearance from the body (BCAS) and deployment and reporting of addition CISF personnel. Around 231 personnel will be deployed. Also awaiting approval from BCAS for setting up of F&B and Retails outlets.Without the approval shop can’t be opened. All necessary compliance have been done and related documents have been submitted to BCAS. BCAS is scrutinising the documents and hope to receive the approval soon,” Dhoke said this evening.
The building was inaugurated virtually by PM Narendra Modi on March 10. Airport officials had said earlier that the building was expected to become operational by April 15 and a target was set for the same.
Sources said that approvals take time and it was uncertain for now whether the building would be operational by April 15. Sources added that there have been some visits by the BCAS team. Flyers are frustrated and have demanded the immediate opening of the building amidst numerous problems they have to face while flying to and from the existing building.
