Ludhiana: Ludhiana Police arrested on Saturday afternoon Karamjit Singh A case of rape has been registered against Bains, brother of Lok Insaaf Party (LIP) chief and former MLA Simarjit Singh Bains. Police said that they have started raids to arrest other accused in the case, including the LIP chief.
The 44-year-old woman had alleged that Bain raped her several times between April 2020 and October 2020 on the pretext of helping her in a property dispute.
On July 10 last year, the division number six police had registered an FIR under Indian sections 376 (rape), 354 (sexual assault), 354-B (sexual assault), 506 (criminal intimidation) and 120-B (criminal conspiracy) . Penal Code (IPC) against Bains, his brothers Karamjit Singh, Paramjit Singh Pamma, activists Baljinder Kaur, Jasbir Kaur Bhabhi, Sukhchain Singh and PA Gopi Sharma.
While confirming the arrest, SHO of Police Division No. 6 Madhubala said that the accused was arrested on Saturday afternoon. He said that they have started raids to arrest the other accused in the case.
The police officer said that the accused had filed a petition in the Supreme Court but it was recently dismissed.
