Punjab stubble burning cases rise: 58 cases in a day, count past 1,000 | Chandigarh News – Times of India

BATHINDA: Punjab reported 58 new crop residue burning cases on Monday taking the total count in the state so far this season to 1,027.
It is for the first time during the ongoing season that Amritsar district reported lesser crop burning cases in a day.
Patiala and Tarn Taran led the chart on Monday with 15 cases each, while Amritsar registered eight fresh cases of stubble burning.

However, Amritsar continues to dominate the overall list with the district reporting 567 cases out of the total 1,027 burning cases registered across the state so far this season.
As per Punjab remote sensing centre, Sangrur reported four crop residue burning cases on Monday, while three cases each were reported in Ferozepur and Kapurthala, two each in Fatehgarh Sahib, Faridkot, Jalandhar and SAS Nagar and one case each in Ludhiana and Mansa districts.
Crop residue burning cases were reported from 12 districts of Punjab on Monday. Against 58 crop residue burning cases reported in the ongoing season on Monday, only three cases were reported in 2022 and 114 in 2021 on October 9. Cumulatively, against 1,027 cases during the ongoing season so far, 714 cases were reported in the corresponding period last year, and 614 in 2021. In contrast, the air quality index in Haryana districts such as Gurgaon improve a bit.
