Punjab Stubble Burning: Farm stubble burning continues in Punjab, 119 cases reported in a day | Chandigarh News – Times of India

BATHINDA: Crop residue burning continues to pick pace in Punjab with over 100 cases in a day being reported on the second consecutive day. As many as 119 stubble burning cases were reported in Punjab on Monday, taking the total count to 456.
On October 1, 123 farm fire cases were reported. The crop residue burning cases reported this season till now are higher than previous two years.
As per Punjab remote sensing centre, out of the 119 cases reported on Monday, 73 were from the border district of Amritsar as it continued reporting most stubble burning cases so far. Out of the total 456 stubble burning cases till now, 333 have been reported only in Amritsar.
Adjoining Tarn Taran followed with 10 cases, Kapurthala with nine, Mohali with seven, Patiala six, Jalandhar four, Fatehgarh Sahib three, two in Ferozepur and one each in Barnala, Faridkot, Gurdaspur, Ludhiana and Sangrur districts. Crop residue burning was reported from 13 of the 23 districts of Punjab on Monday.
Against 119 on October 2 in the ongoing season, the 83 crop residue burning cases were reported in 2022 and no case was reported in 2021. Cumulatively against 456 cases in the present season, there were 275 in 2022 and 228 in 2021 till October 2.
