Amidst the ongoing standoff with China on the country’s northern borders, the first and only woman pilot of the Indian Air Force’s Rafale fighter jet, Lieutenant Shivangi Singh praised her aircraft’s performance in the high altitude area.

Lt Shivangi spoke to news agency ANI. He told that I have flown in that area and executed all the missions assigned to us very smoothly. Shivangi was asked about the performance of Rafale in the ongoing standoff with China in eastern Ladakh and other areas along the LAC.

Shivangi Singh also represented the Indian Air Force in the French Exercise Orion in France. Several other major air forces and forces of the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO), including those of the US, UK and France, participated in the exercise.

When asked about his participation in the multinational exercise Orion, he said that it was a great experience where I got the opportunity to meet pilots from different countries. Singh said Indian pilots learned about the environment in which other countries fly and how Indian pilots fly.

Shivangi said that she also got an opportunity to interact with women pilots from other participating countries and it was a great learning opportunity for her.

Commissioned in 2017 in the second batch of women fighter pilots, Flight Lieutenant Shivangi Singh is the only woman pilot in the two squadrons of Rafale aircraft in the country. Explain that two squadrons of Rafale aircraft are stationed at Ambala in Haryana and Hashimara airbase in West Bengal.

The Indian Air Force had inducted the Rafale fighter jets in 2020, months after the standoff with China began. India currently has 36 Rafale aircraft. All of them are giving their services in the Indian Air Force.

Shivangi Singh, the first female pilot to fly Rafale, is a resident of Varanasi district of Uttar Pradesh. His family lives in an old house near Phulwaria railway crossing in Varanasi. Pilot Shivangi Singh’s father’s name is Kumareshwar Singh and his mother’s name is Seema Singh. Flight Lieutenant Shivangi Singh has two brothers, namely Mayank and Shubhanshu. And the sister’s name is Himanshi Singh.
