Pilot vs Gehlot tussle

Gehlot and Pilot have been at loggerheads publicly for more than two years. The tussle between the two top Congress leaders in Rajasthan saw an ugly phase after CM Gehlot accused Union ministers Gajendra Singh Shekhawat and Pilot of toppling his government in 2020, leading a rebellion in the party for a leadership change in the state. . ,

However, Gehlot managed to survive and Pilot and some of his loyalists were later dropped from the state cabinet.

Addressing a public event in Dholpur on Sunday, Gehlot had claimed that he was spared a rebellion by some Congress MLAs in 2020 because BJP leaders Vasundhara Raje and Kailash Meghwal had conspired to topple an elected government through money power. refused to support.

On Wednesday, Pilot hit out at Gehlot over his comments, saying it appeared that veteran Congress leader Vasundhara Raje was Scindia and not Sonia Gandhi.

He also rejected the allegation that the dissidents he led had taken any money from the BJP.

Last month, the Tonk MLA and Gehlot’s former deputy observed a day-long fast, targeting his own party’s government in Rajasthan for its “inaction” in alleged corruption cases when the BJP ran the state.

Addressing a press conference on 9 April, Pilot said that he appealed to CM Gehlot to act on the allegations against the previous Vasundhara Raje government, but received no response.

Pilot said he and Gehlot clubbed those allegations together against Vasundhara Raje’s government, adding that she had leveled some allegations as the then president of the party’s state unit.

“I do not believe in vendetta politics. But we had some credibility as the opposition and that is why we came to power,” Sachin Pilot had said on April 11 while announcing the one-day hunger strike.
