Rajasthan Protest News: Police use water cannon to disperse BJP protest in Jaipur over paper leak case Jaipur News – Times of India

Jaipur: Police used water cannons near the state secretariat to disperse BJP workers protesting “corruption” and exam paper leak under the Congress government in the state.
Rajasthan BJP leaders and workers began their march from the party’s state headquarters to the secretariat here after a public meeting. The police stopped them at Statue Circle near the Secretariat.
Before the march, the party Rajya Sabha MP Kirori Meena Addressed the meeting where he said that the BJP would expose the corrupt practices of minister Shanti Dhariwal and the “scams” related to the mining and Jal Jeevan Mission scheme in the state.
He said, “Corruption is at its peak in the Gehlot government. Sixteen competitive exams were held in Rajasthan in one year and all of them were leaked. Now the Enforcement Directorate has come and started the investigation, so Gehlot is scared.”
Meena said, “The BJP will expose a mining scam in the coming days. Also, a scam in the Jal Jeevan Mission and cases of corruption of Urban Development and Housing Minister Shanti Dhariwal will also come to the fore.”
He claimed that for the first time in the country, Rs 2.31 crore in cash and one kilogram of gold were recovered from a cupboard in a government building. The MP was referring to the arrest of the Joint Director of the Department of Information and Technology (DoIT) last month following seizures at Yojana Bhavan here.
Meena claimed that there was a scam of Rs 5,000 crore in DoIT, but when the Anti-Corruption Bureau sought permission to investigate, the Chief Minister refused.
He said that Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot should “take off the cloak of honesty”.
State President of the party CP Joshi, Leader of Opposition in the Assembly Rajendra Rathore, Meena and other leaders staged a symbolic sit-in after the police stopped the BJP march at Statue Circle.
After the dharna, BJP workers burnt an effigy in protest. After some time the police used water canon to disperse them.
Joshi and other leaders then courted arrest, after which the police took them away in a bus.
“This protest is against the misrule of the Congress government. The Gehlot government has cheated the youth and robbed them of their dreams. Women are not safe and corruption is rampant. That’s why the protest is being held today,” he said.
Meena said that this is a symbolic protest in Jaipur and in the coming days agitation will be held against the government across the state.
BJP workers from Jaipur city participated in the march and demonstration.
