Rajkumar Santoshi admits it was a mistake to release ‘Gandhi Godse – Ek Yudh’ alongside ‘Pathan’ – Times of India

Filmmaker Rajkumar Santoshi has said that releasing his previous film ‘Gandhi Godse – Ek Yudh’ with ‘Pathan’ was a mistake.
Set against the backdrop of post-independence India in 1947-48, ‘Gandhi Godse Ek Yudh’ highlights the clash of ideologies between Nathuram Godse and Mahatma Gandhi. While it released on January 26, ‘Pathan’ directed by Siddharth Anand hit the big screens a day earlier. Starring Shah Rukh Khan, Deepika Padukone, John Abraham, Dimple Kapadia and Ashutosh Rana in lead roles, the action entertainer broke several box office records.

Now, in an interview with a media outlet, Rajkummar was pressed about his decision to single release his next film ‘Bad Boy’. Many believe that the veteran filmmaker took this decision keeping in mind how badly ‘Gandhi Godse’ had taken a hit upon the release of ‘Pathan’. Rajkumar also admitted that releasing ‘Gandhi Godse – Ek Yuddh’ at the same time as ‘Pathan’ was a mistake. However, as far as the release of ‘Bad Boy’ is concerned, the makers have planned it and the celebrated filmmaker feels that it is a really good release date.
Commenting on the cast of ‘Bad Boy’, Rajkummar also said that he chose the cast for his upcoming film because they suited the role. it has nothing to do with the fact that they are actors Mithun Chakraborty and the children of producer Sajid Qureshi. In the film, Mithun’s son Namashi Chakraborty and Sajid’s daughter Amreen will be seen as the lead pair. ‘Bad Boy’ is slated to release on April 28. Both Namashi and Amreen are making their acting debut with this romantic-comedy.
