Rajkumar Santoshi on ‘Andaz Apna Apna’ actor Javed Khan: He never got his due in Hindi cinema – Exclusive – Times of India

‘Lagaan’ and ‘Chak De!’ Senior actor Javed Khan, who left an impact with films like Amrohi! Bharat passed away today after a long battle with breathing problems. One of Javed’s most memorable performances came alongside Aamir Khan and Salman Khan in the director’s Raj Kumar SantoshiAndaz apna apna’. ETimes contacted Santoshi who expressed his grief but praised the senior actor.
Santoshi respected Javed a lot and said, “It is very sad. He was a very good person and a good actor. I think he didn’t get his due in Hindi cinema. He did a lot of work in theater as well.” Recalling their association, the filmmaker said, “We did Andaz Apna Apna Saath Mein. He played Anand Akela in the film. I enjoyed working with him as he was intelligent and understanding. He was always smiling.” He was a producer-friendly actor.”

Controlling her shock at Javed’s demise, Santoshi concluded by saying, “My heartfelt condolences on his passing away and may his soul rest in peace.” Earlier, ETimes also spoke to Javed’s ‘Andaz Apna Apna’ co-star Tiku Talsania, who echoed similar sentiments as his director.

Talsania had remembered Javed’s talent and his craft as an actor and said, “He was always the first one to try something new while shooting. It’s a very sad thing that has happened. Will pray. He was always forthright and always ready to take things forward in whatever we did. He always gave me advice.”

Javed Khan’s last rites ceremony was held in Mumbai this evening.
