Ram Lalla Sculptor’s Family to Miss Ayodhya Consecration Ceremony | Mysuru News – Times of India

MYSURU: The family of Arun Yogiraj, who sculpted the idol of Ram Lalla, will not be attending the consecration event at Sri Ram Temple in Ayodhya on January 22.
Despite the anticipation and initial plans for the entire family’s participation in the historic event, only Yogiraj has received the invitation to the installation ceremony.
Currently engaged in various activities in Ayodhya, he will represent the family at the significant occasion. The sculptor’s wife, Vijeta, along with their two children and other family members, had initially intended to be part of the spectacle. However, as of Tuesday, the family had not received the invitation. Consequently, they will be watching the consecration on TV from the comfort of their home in Mysuru.
Despite the change in plans, the family expressed understanding of the logistical constraints and expressed their intention to visit Ayodhya some day after the consecration. Meanwhile, the festive atmosphere continued at Arun’s house in Mysuru, with numerous family friends, relatives, and locals visiting the family to extend their congratulations.
Scores of well-wishers from various walks of life celebrated the news of Yogiraj’s sculpted idol, depicting the deity as a five-year-old boy in a standing posture, being selected for placement at its ‘Aasan’ in the ‘Garbh Griha’ (sanctum sanctorum). Yogiraj’s mother Saraswati expressed great joy at the news, emphasising the family’s jubilation over the selection of the idol crafted by her son.
Speaking about the challenges in sculpting the idol of Ram Lalla, Yogiraj had earlier shared insights, stating: “The idol should embody the divine nature of a child, as it represents the incarnation of god. People should feel the divinity when they look at the statue.”
He began his work about seven months ago, and the family eagerly awaits public appreciation for his craftsmanship. As the nation prepares for the momentous occasion at Sri Ram Temple, the Yogiraj family, though physically absent, remains connected in spirit, eagerly anticipating the day they can witness the culmination of their artistic contribution to this historic event.
Family chants ‘Ram Japa’
With less than a week to the mega event at Ayodhya, Yogiraj’s family chanted ‘Ram Japa’ at their residence on Tuesday. In Ayodhya, Champat Rai, general secretary of Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra, earlier spoke highly of Yogiraj’s dedication to the job. Rai said the Mysuru sculptor did not even talk to his family members for months to avoid any distraction to his work. “You cannot even imagine how Arun Yogiraj spent his days while working on the idol. He did not touch his phone for months, and did not even speak to his children and family,” Rai said.
