The prolonged spell of scorching heat in Hyderabad broke on Sunday and a sudden rain in the evening brought respite to the city dwellers.

Parts of Hyderabad including Ameerpet, Yousufguda, Jubilee Hills, Punjagutta and Khairatabad received rain. Nizamabad, Kamareddy, Medak, Sangareddy, Mulugu and Khammam districts also received scattered rains.

According to the Telangana State Development Planning Society (TSDPS), Aswaraopeta in Bhadradri Kothagudem received 15.8 mm of rain till 6 pm on Sunday, followed by Medak (15 mm), Kamareddy (14.5 mm) and Sangareddy (13.5 mm). In GHMC limits, Shaikpet received 9 mm of rain, followed by Khairatabad at 3.5 mm and Ameerpet at 2.5 mm.
