Inderbir Singh Nijjar, a minister in the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government in Punjab, has suddenly resigned. He was the local government minister in the government. CM Bhagwant Mann has sent his resignation to the governor for approval. Along with this, time has been sought from the Governor for taking oath of the new ministers tomorrow. According to sources, the governor will administer the oath of office and secrecy to two new ministers at 11 am on Wednesday.

According to sources, Balkar Singh, MLA from Jalandhar’s Kartarpur assembly seat and Gurmeet Khudiyan, MLA from Long seat, can be made new ministers in the government. The names of both of them have been sent to the governor for taking oath as new ministers.

In the recent by-election for Jalandhar Lok Sabha seat, AAP’s Sushil Rinku from Kartarpur seat got the maximum lead of about 14,000.

On the other hand, Gurmeet Khudiyan had defeated Prakash Singh Badal, who was the CM of Punjab for 5 times in the last elections.

The reason for the resignation was given as personal.
No reason has been revealed behind Nijjar’s resignation. It is said to be a decision taken due to his personal reasons. Nijjar was elected MLA from Amritsar South. AAP’s Dr. Inderbir Singh Nijjar won from Amritsar South constituency. He got 53,053 votes.

He contested the assembly elections for the first time in 2017 and stood second. The AAP high command has expressed its faith in him this time also. He was also appointed Pro-tem speaker after AAP formed the government.

18 ministers possible in punjab government
A total of 18 ministers including the CM can be made in the Punjab government. At present there are 15 ministers including CM Bhagwant Mann.
