Revenue department to roll out Kaveri 2.0 in Bengaluru

Bangalore,

The revenue department will launch the much-awaited Kaveri 2.0, a web-based property registration application, in all 43 sub-registrar offices in Bengaluru between May 29 and June 26. Out of 256 offices, the state government has launched so far. App in 165 offices of 24 districts

In September 2003, the state government launched Kaveri 1.0, which had some hiccups and often broke down during registration. While Kaveri 1.0 was developed by the Pune-based C-DAC, Kaveri 2.0 was developed by the Department of Smart Governance and e-Governance.

The press note shared by the Department of Revenue states that the older version had technical glitches, and that support for the Visual Basic (VB) language and the Windows XP operating system ended in 2007 and 2012, respectively. The operating system was also not supported by the antivirus. Kaveri 1.0 had several operational issues and due to absence of support from C-DAC, the Department of Revenue could not manage the issues at the filing level.

The newly developed app makes the registration process user-friendly by dividing it into three stages: pre-registration, registration and post-registration. Pre-registration is online and contactless. Citizens have to enter the required data for registration and send it online for verification by the sub-registrar. The verified documents will then be sent to the user, following which the online payment can be made. Afterwards, the citizens can set the date and time for the registration process.

Registration will be completed in 10 minutes as citizens only need to give thumb impression and photograph. After registration, the digitally signed document will be sent to the DigiLocker account.
