Nearly half a century ago, Manilal Gala, a self-made linguist and an ethnographer, predicted the heartbreak to experience the loss of his language – Kutchi. He was pained to think of the Kutchis around the world who were helplessly watching their language disappear. He was fully aware that it would also mean losing the cultural heritage and history of Kutch.
