In 2020, Rhea Chakraborty was arrested by the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) in connection to a drug-related case following the death of actor Sushant Singh Rajput. She spent 28 days as an undertrial at Byculla jail before being released on bail. During that period, Rhea experienced a lot of criticism and cyber trolling. In a recent interview, the actress opened up on her limited opportunities in Bollywood since the drug-related case.
In an interview with Mid Day, Rhea Chakraborty was asked about not getting much work in Bollywood, and whether people are scared of hiring her. In response, Rhea said that she feels a sense of fear still lingers, but she is hoping that will subside soon. However, she added that things have calmed down a lot since 2020, and that the power of trolls is now gone.
In a Mid Day interview, Rhea was asked about her limited opportunities in Bollywood and whether there is still a reluctance to hire her. She acknowledged a lingering sense of fear but expressed hope that it will diminish over time. She mentioned that the situation has significantly improved since 2020, and the influence of online trolls has subsided.
“I feel there is still a sense of fear on that front, but I’m hoping it normalises soon. A lot of it has calmed down, and honestly, the power of trolls is gone,” said Rhea. During the same interview, Rhea opened up on being one of the most trolled personalities on social media. But she mentioned that during tough times, her friends supported and helped both emotionally and financially. This support gave her strength. “I had friends rally behind me, help me and my family emotionally and monetarily. That gave me strength,” added Rhea.
In 2020, Rhea Chakraborty was accused of abetting her partner and film star Sushant Singh Rajput’s suicide by his family.
