JAIPUR: As the day of voting for the state assembly nears, candidates have started hitting the campaign trail in unusual ways. Some have taken to campaigning on horseback while others walk barefoot to solicit votes. Many are also queuing up at temples to seek divine blessings. In Shahpura assembly constituency, BJP candidate Upen Yadavhas been meeting people and carrying out his campaign barefoot.He has been raising the issue of exam paper leaks in the past five years, saying that it has ruined the future of lakhs of youth preparing for government jobs.
Lalit Meena, the BJP candidate in Kishanganj, has been weighing himself on a scale against fruits and vegetables, which he then hands out to people. This week, his team organised a blood donation camp after which the collected blood was weighed on a scale with Meena sitting on the other side. In the state capital, Congress’ Civil Lines candidate Pratap Singh Khachariyawas went around on horseback as part of campaigning on Monday and Tuesday, while on Wednesday he visited various localities riding a chariot. Women workers of BJP have been campaigning in the city in open jeeps, travelling through streets and lanes of different colonies.
On Wednesday, Gopal Sharma, BJP candidate in Civil Lines constituency, was presented with a sword by ex-servicemen at a colony on Khatipura Road. In many constituencies, candidates are visiting temples the first thing in the morning before starting their public meetings for the day. On Wednesday, Congress candidate in Jhotwara, Abhishek Chaudhary, visited Khatu Shyam temple and offered prayers. In Kishanpole, Congress candidate Amin Kagzi on Tuesday started his campaign by visiting the temple of Veer Hanuman ji on Nahargarh Road.
