There has been a week-long protest in the state of Maharashtra regarding the reservation of Marathas in the state. Activist Manoj Jarange has been sitting on an indefinite fast for over a week. On Tuesday, i.e., October 31, the Maratha reservation activist decided to start drinking water after the CM assured him of a solution. But he later declared that he would stop drinking water if the reservation was not provided.

Now, it has been found that Maharashtra CM Eknath Shinde has declared that all parties in the state stand with the state party to provide reservations to the Marathas. He declared that the reservation would be within the framework of laws and would not be an injustice to other communities. Many actors from the Marathi film industry also expressed their views regarding the protest:

Ashwini Mahangade: The Aai Kuthe Kay Karte actress Ashwini Mahangade has said that if not now, then the reservation will never be provided. She said that students have been studying hard, and when they fail, they torture themselves. She added that this needs to stop, and she will always fight for the right to be a part of the struggle.

Riteish Deshmukh: Actor Riteish Deshmukh expressed his support for the protest. He wrote, “Jai Shivarai, Manoj Jarange is on a peaceful hunger strike for the just demand of the backward elements of the Maratha community, which has been pending for many years. I pray for their health. And we hope that this issue will be resolved soon.”

Hemant Dhome: A Marathi actor turned director, has also expressed his support for Manoj Jarange for the reservations of Marathas in the state. He took to X and wrote, “The Maratha reservation movement, which has been going on peacefully and non-violently till now, is taking a violent turn. Manoj Jarange Patal’s health is deteriorating. Their demands should be considered. The government should take concrete steps as soon as possible.”

Kiran Mane: Popular Marathi actor Kiran Mane has also extended his support to activist Manoj Jarange. In an interview, he said that he has once again proved that the common man has the power to fight the system and the constitution. He also added that he feels very proud to have people like him who fight the system.
