RJD releases poll manifesto, promises 1 crore govt jobs for ‘berozgaari se azadi’ | Patna News – Times of India

NEW DELHI: Terming unemployment the biggest enemy, RJD leader and former Bihar deputy chief minister Tejashwi Prasad Yadav on Saturday promised government jobs to one crore youths across the country if the INDIA bloc is voted to power in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections.
The Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD), the primary member of the Mahagathbandhan alliance in Bihar, unveiled its election manifesto.The party has made 24 “jan vachan” (public promises) that it intends to fulfill if the INDIA bloc secures power at the Centre.
Yadav emphasised the party’s commitment to delivering on these promises during the manifesto release event. One of the key promises in the RJD’s ‘Parivartan Patra’ is the creation of 1 crore government jobs for unemployed youth across the country, with the process set to commence on Independence Day this year. Yadav described this initiative as ‘berozgaari se azadi’ (freedom from unemployment) and criticized the BJP for not addressing the issue of unemployment despite promising 2 crore jobs.
“On the occasion of Raksha Bandhan this year, we will start providing Rs 1 lakh annually to our sisters belonging to poor families,” Yadav announced. The manifesto also includes the restoration of the Old Pension Scheme for government employees and the provision of LPG cylinders at Rs 500.
To improve connectivity in Bihar, the RJD has pledged to construct five new airports in Purnea, Bhagalpur, Muzaffarpur, Gopalganj, and Raxaul.
A special package of Rs 1.60 lakh crore will be sanctioned for the overall development of the state, and residents of Bihar will receive 200 units of free electricity per month. Yadav also stated that the Agniveer scheme, which offers contractual employment in the armed forces, will be discontinued if the INDIA bloc comes to power at the Centre.
The Lok Sabha elections for the 40 seats in Bihar are scheduled to take place in seven phases from April 19 to June 1.
