Run more KSRTC buses in rural areas: Puttur MLA | Mangaluru News – Times of India

Mangaluru: Puttur MLA Ashok Kumar Rai of Congress has urged Transport Minister Ramalinga Reddy to increase the number of vehicles KSRTC Buses at Puttur Depot, and depute adequate number of staff for the convenience of people in rural areas.
The MLA said that he met the minister in Bengaluru and urged him to fill the vacant posts of drivers and other technical staff at Puttur depot. “Earlier, there was no dearth of buses in the Puttur unit of KSRTC. That’s why people, especially students and laborers, were not facing any problem in commuting in the villages. However, the number of buses was reduced after the Covid-19 lockdown. Therefore, I have requested the minister to address the problems of the villagers who are being inconvenienced,” said the MLA.
He said that it was also brought to the notice of the Minister that many employees have been transferred from Puttur and this has created administrative problems in the depot.
“I have submitted a memorandum to the minister and the principal secretary of the department,” he said. He said that the minister has agreed to consider the demands. The MLA said he has submitted another memorandum to Ramalinga Reddy, who is also the minister for Muzrai department, seeking approval to buy land for a temple at Uppinangadi.
He said, ‘I have sought permission from the Muzrai department to buy the land. Mister Sahasralingeswara Temple at Uppinangadi. The famous temple receives lakhs of devotees from the district and outside, but it lacks adequate infrastructure, guest houses and parking facilities. Hence, the devotees and the management committee of the temple have identified 32 cents of land adjacent to the temple. Land can be bought after getting the permission of the department.
