Rupee trades steady against US dollar in early trade – Times of India

Mumbai: The Rupee The dollar traded almost flat at 81.95 against the American currency in early trade on Monday amid gains in local equities and losses against major rivals in global markets.
The domestic currency declined by 4 paise to open at 82.00 against the dollar at the interbank forex market.
The currency moved in a narrow range before trading at 81.95 against the greenback, up just 1 paise compared to Friday’s closing level of 81.96.
The dollar index, which gauges the greenback’s strength against a basket of six currencies, declined 0.16 per cent to 102.73. Brent crude, the benchmark of crude oil price, was up 0.19 per cent at $73.99 per barrel.
In the domestic equity market, 30-share BSE Sensex In early trade, the index rose 105.07 points, or 0.17 percent, to 63,084.44 and the Nifty rose 49.15 points to 18,714.65.
