He claimed at a program in Jhunjhunu district, “If Rajendra Gudha had not been there, the chief minister would have been in jail.”

Former Minister and Congress MLA Rajendra Gudha on Sunday said that he saved Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot from trouble but was removed without giving him a chance to explain.

At a program in Jhunjhunu district, he claimed, “If Rajendra Gudha had not been there, the chief minister would have been in jail.”

Speaking to media persons, he claimed that he had obtained a “red diary” on the instructions of the chief minister during the ED and Income Tax raids against Congress leader Dharmendra Rathore.

“The chief minister called and asked me to bring back the ‘Lal Diary’ at any cost,” he claimed.

He claimed that the Chief Minister had repeatedly asked him whether he had burnt the diary and said that the Chief Minister would not have done so if there was nothing objectionable in it.

The BJP took advantage of his statement to target the ruling Congress in the state.

“Rajendra Guddha has made a sensational disclosure about a red diary which contains the alleged dark deeds of the Congress-Gehlot government.

BJP spokesperson Shahzad Poonawala tweeted, “Will those who know the truth about the dark deeds of corruption and women atrocities now answer about this?”

Gudha, who held charge as Minister of State for Sainik Welfare (Independent Charge), Home Guards and Civil Defence, Panchayati Raj and Rural Development, has been targeting Gehlot since his sacking on Friday evening, hours after he cornered his government in the Assembly on the issue of crimes against women in the state.

Addressing a program in Jhunjhunu on Sunday, Gudha said he would have resigned if the chief minister had asked him to do so.

“If you had asked me to resign, I would have resigned… You should have called and given notice,” he said.

He said that judges also give a chance before taking action.

Gudha, one of the six MLAs who won the 2018 assembly election on a BSP ticket before joining the Congress in September 2019, was inducted as a minister in November 2021.

He supported Gehlot during his tussle with his then deputy Sachin Pilot in July 2020. However, in the last few months, Gudha has given statements in favor of the pilot.
