The sale of pearl spot fingerlings has started at the Kerala Agro Industries Corporation (KAICO) outlet at Athani near Angamaly. Fingerlings are being produced with the technical support of Ernakulam Krishi Vigyan Kendra, said a communication here. Fingerlings are produced by the Pearl Spot Fingerlings manufacturing unit at Karumalur.
3 to 4 cm fingerlings cost ₹345 per 50 and 4 to 5 cm fingerlings cost ₹575 per 50. Those who wish to buy fingerlings can book their supplies on: 04842474267/8547721150. The sale is open to those who book their requirements before 10 am on the first Thursday of every month. Fingerlings will be distributed to those who require more than 20 bags at a place of their specification within Ernakulam district.
Meanwhile, a group of students from Michigan State University, who are at the Central Marine Fisheries Research Institute for the study, recently visited the pear spot fingerlings production center, the communication said.
