Sandeep Reddy Vanga admits taking a dig at Swanand Kirkire for criticising ‘Animal’; was ‘not needed’ | – Times of India

Sandeep Reddy Vanga‘s ‘Animal‘ received mixed reactions from the audience and the critics alike when it was released in December last year. While many showered love on the film, some also criticised it for its misogynistic content.
The official X page of the movie had even responded to Swanand Kirkire‘s reaction to ‘Animal’. In a recent interview with Siddharth Kannan, Sandeep Reddy Vanga has now conceded that the tweet was excessive and unnecessary.Sandeep also clarified that he wasn’t the one who wrote them and that it was written by some members of his team.

Sandeep expressed his team’s surprise at the negative reception towards Kabir Singh, contrasting it with the overwhelming praise for Arjun Reddy. He recalled being perplexed by the disparity in reactions to the same film in different languages. Sandeep admitted to giving an interview where he mentioned increased violence in his next film but clarified he didn’t intend it as a desire.

This is what happened when Ranbir Kapoor SMSed ‘Animal’ director Sandeep Reddy Vanga after ‘Arjun Reddy’ success

Sandeep noted the heightened criticism faced by Animal upon its release, likening it to an organized campaign. He mentioned that the Twitter handle initially intended for publicity eventually became a platform for such responses. Sandeep clarified that he only manages his personal Twitter account, emphasizing that the controversial statements attributed to him were not his own words.

Swanand Kirkire had criticized the hyper masculinity in Animal and the official account had written back, “Do not let your knees fall ahead of your toes or cave in towards each other. Keep feet shoulder-width apart to maintain a good base of support for balance. Land softly on the balls of the feet to help absorb the force of the landing. Yes…. now it landed perfectly (flying kiss emoticon) @swanandkirkire”

‘Animal’ starred Ranbir Kapoor alongside Anil Kapoor, Bobby Deol, Rashmika Mandanna, Triptii Dimri, Suresh Oberoi, Shakti Kapoor, and Prem Chopra. The film released on an OTT platform on January 26.
