Mathivanan said two to three traffic police personnel are deployed at busy junctions to control traffic during peak hours. “After the creation of traffic islands, motorists will not have to wait at junctions. Vehicles from Puliyakulam And Kamarajar Road at Red Fields will be able to easily cross Trichy Road and enter Sungam-Ukkadam Bypass. Will travel from Ukkadam-Sungam Bypass and Trichy Road up to Puliyakulam Road and Kamarajar Road without stopping at the junction.
The official said the wing has received Rs 90 lakh from the central government for the construction of islands and service roads. The work is likely to start within a month.
