Sanjay Leela Bhansali orders re-shoots of ‘Hiramandi’ scenes; Web series release at risk of delay – Times of India

Sanjay Leela Bhansali The fans are eagerly waiting for the release of his ambitious project ‘Hiramandi’. However, as per the latest reports, the wait for the web series might get longer as the director has reportedly ordered re-shoots of certain portions of the series.
The period drama, which is currently being shot in Mumbai, will see multiple directors shooting for various episodes of the series. The first look of the series starring Richa Chadha, Sonakshi Sinha, Manisha KoiralaFans of Aditi Rao Hydari and Sanjeeda Sheikh were worried about the new series, however, latest reports claim that Bhansali is unhappy with parts of the series and insists on reshooting them. This has become a cause of concern as the production is almost complete. It remains to be seen whether the re-shoot will delay the release on Netflix.

The series explores the cultural reality of ‘Hiramandi’, a glitzy district, through the stories of tawaifs and their mentors against the tumultuous backdrop of the Indian freedom struggle of the 1940s.

Filmmaker Sanjay Leela Bhansali had earlier said that he has tried to capture the nuances of Mughal-e-Azam and Pakeezah in his OTT debut series. In both the films, the lead actress Madhubala and Meena Kumari Played the role of courtiers.

Bhansali told PIT, “Hiramandi has nuances that you feel are found in the great Kamal Amrohi’s Pakeezah. Heeramandi is my tribute to the great Mughal-e-Azam, Pakeezah and Mehboob Khan Sahab’s Bharat Mata.”
The veteran filmmaker said iconic Indian directors like Raj Kapoor, Yash ChopraMehboob Khan, Bimal Rai, Guru Dutt And V Shantaram inspired him to weave stories around women. She said, “He understood that she is the creator of man, so she should be given a place in literature, cinema and art. He always told women’s stories, not necessarily men’s stories.”
