Recently, producer JD Majethia opened up on whether there are plans for a Season 3 of the very popular show, Sarabhai vs Sarabhai.

While producer JD Majethia’s latest show, Kuch Reet Jagat Ki Aisi Hai, delves into serious themes, his production banner, Hatsoff Productions, is known for backing popular comedy shows. From cult classics like Khichdi to the iconic Sarabhai vs Sarabhai, Majethia and Aatish Kapadia have upheld their legacy by extending their shows through films or new seasons on OTT platforms. Recently, JD Majethia, in a chat with Indianexpress.com, opened up on whether there are plans for a Season 3 of the very popular show, Sarabhai vs Sarabhai.

Given that Sarabhai vs Sarabhai Take 2 concluded with a cliffhanger where Monisha leaves Sahil and moves to Delhi with her son, Majethia was asked about the possibility of a new season. To this, he said, “It is very much in mind, but for it to be on paper, there needs to be some wow factor. So if you all pray, something should come up, but Sarabhai 3 is very much on the cards.”

JD Majethia also discussed the film adaptation of Khichdi. He admitted that they made a mistake with the release date for Khichdi 2: Mission Paanthukistan, which ultimately led to the film tanking at the box office. According to him, the film’s release coinciding with the World Cup finals on a Sunday affected its box office performance, and piracy further contributed to its downfall.

Last year, a Sarabhai vs Sarabhai reunion, a photo of which was shared by Rupali Ganguly on her Instagram, left fans thrilled and wondering if a third season is on the cards. The video showed the stars dining together at a Mumbai eatery, including Maya Sarabhai (Ratna Pathak Shah), Rosesh Sarabhai (Rajesh Kumar), and Indravardhan Sarabhai (Satish Shah). Sumeet Raghavan, who played Monisha’s husband Sahil Sarabhai in the show, was not present.

The iconic show ran on TV for two years between 2004 and 2006.
