SBI’s special FD rates: State Bank of India (SBI) has prolonged the availability of its Amrit Kalash special fixed deposit (FD) scheme, providing an opportunity for investors to benefit from higher interest rates, especially designed for retail customers including senior citizens.

Investment deadline for SBI Amrit Kalash

SBI customers can invest in the Amrit Kalash scheme until September 30, 2024.The scheme offers a 7.10% interest rate for a 400-day period starting from April 12, 2023. Senior citizens qualify for a higher interest rate of 7.60%. The scheme remains open until September 30, 2024.

SBI Amrit Kalash Premature withdrawal

As per the SBI website, the interest rate for premature withdrawal will be either 0.50% to 1% lower than the applicable rate at the time of deposit, based on the duration the deposit remains with the bank, or 0.50% to 1% lower than the contracted rate, whichever is less.

Payment of interest

Term deposits with SBI can yield interest payments at monthly, quarterly, or half-yearly intervals. Special term deposits accrue interest upon maturity. The interest amount, after deducting TDS (Tax Deducted at Source), will be credited directly to the customer’s account.

SBI FD interest rates

According to ET, SBI has raised fixed deposit interest rates for specific durations. Presently, interest rates for general citizens range from 3.5% to 7% (excluding Amrit Kalash) for deposits below Rs 2 crore. Senior citizens can avail interest rates ranging from 4% to 7.50%.

SBI Green Rupee Term Deposit (SGRTD) details

According to the SBI press release, the SGRTD (SBI Green Rupee Term Deposit) provides investors with the option to select from three different durations: 1111 days, 1777 days, and 2222 days. The highest interest rate offered under this scheme is 7.40% for the 2222-day tenure. It’s important to note that the interest rate for these deposits will be set at 10 basis points below the Card Rate for Retail deposits.
