Schools, Ratribazaar Units Get Vmc Notices | Vadodara News – Times of India

Vadodara: The Vadodara Municipal Corporation (VMC) has slapped notices to six municipal schools and the Ratribazaar area near VUDA Circle over safety concerns. Alarmed by the Harni boat tragedy, the civic body had recently asked its officials to look into the safety of its establishments and submit reports.
Notices were passed on to the six municipal schools, which have been issued notices were reportedly operating from old buildings which the officials of the civic body found to be unsafe.
An official of the VMC primary school education committee, however, said that they were yet to receive the notices. However, he added that the committee was already working on the buildings and even constructing new ones. He said that some such old buildings were already not being used by schools.
The civic body also issued a notices to 31 food vendors, having their outlets in the Ratribazaar. The vendors said that this was done as there were encroachments in the night food market and because of unsafe electricity wires.
“There are some vendors who have ignored the terms and conditions on which they were given the shops on rent. The notice asked us to shut down, but we have sought time till Monday. We hope things are in place by then,” said Dilip Motiyani, a vendor at Ratribazaar.
