Sealdah Ajmer Express fire: Panic after smoke inside general compartment of Sealdah Express near Kaushambi | Allahabad News – Times of India

PRAYAGRAJ: Panic gripped Bhawari Tuesday afternoon in the railway station and surrounding areas. Kaushambi Passengers in the general compartment of 12987 Sealdah-Ajmer Express stopped the train by pulling the emergency chain after seeing smoke inside the compartment for more than half an hour.
After a gap of 38 minutes, the railway employees resolved the problem and sent the train to its destination.
Chief Public Relations Officer (CPRO) NCR, Himanshu Shekhar Upadhyay“Passengers of 12987 Sealdah-Ajmer Superfast Express complained of smoke in the general compartment of the train. The train was stopped at Bharwari railway station at 13.22 pm and railway staff registered the complaint,” said.
He said the train left for its destination at 2 pm.
Upadhyay said that the train was thoroughly checked by railway staff at Bharwari railway station and it was to be checked again at Kanpur Central railway station.
Passengers told reporters that some of them noticed smoke inside the general compartment and pulled the emergency chain. Arjun, a passenger traveling in the compartment, said, “When we saw smoke coming out of the roof of the compartment, we pulled the chain. We came out of the compartment as soon as the train stopped.
Railway officials at Bharwari railway station claimed that the train left for its destination after checking and necessary work. Railway employees also cooperated grp personnel.
