Tirupur: The Tirupur district police have beefed up security across the district ahead of Vinayagar Chaturthi celebrations on Monday.
According to police, over 1,000 police personnel, excluding home guards (HG), have been deployed across the district as part of security measures. Police pickets have also been set up at important junctions in the city. Vehicle checks will be conducted at check posts.
Police personnel will conduct night patrols and keep a close watch during the procession of idols.
“Part of the police force will also be deployed in religious places and large public gathering places such as bus stands, theatres, and market areas in order to prevent any crimes,” the police sources said.

The burial ground at Ganapathipalayam in Coimbatore has been revamped with new equipment and facilities at a cost of 26.46 lakh. The cremation facility had been facing issues, forcing residents to travel elsewhere for last rites. Additionally, a foundation stone was laid for the construction of four classrooms at a government school in Vellakovil. A park was also opened in Kamarajapuram, and toilets were built in three locations to address open defecation. The projects were funded by the Namakku Naame, National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development, and Amrut schemes.
