Guwahati: Manipur chief electoral officer Pradeep Kumar Jha on Saturday said after ground assessment, 35% of polling stations in the strife-torn state have been identified as “vulnerable and critical” in which additional central armed police forces will be deployed.
Jha said steps have also been taken to identify history-sheeters and trouble mongers.These 1,058 critical and vulnerable polling stations among a total of 2,955 will be brought under webcasting and videography along with deployment of micro observers, the CEO told the media in Imphal.
Jha said vulnerability mapping was done by 387 sector officers who visited the polling stations for identification of vulnerable locations and voter segments. He said the internally displaced persons will be treated as electors of their original place and a special polling station will be set up for a cluster of polling stations.
Voting will take place through EVMs only and counting of votes will also take place at the district headquarters where the relief camps are located and the results will be transmitted to the returning officer concerned. The displaced persons will have to submit an ID form to the designated assistant returning officers at least 10 days before the date of poll.
Manipur has 10,47,929 female and 9,80,855 male voters and 239 transgender electors.
