AAP’s Delhi convenor Gopal Rai said in a press conference that this ordinance shows that the Center will impose such ‘dictatorial decisions’ on the country.

The AAP on Monday said it will hold a ‘Maha Rally’ on June 11 against the Centre’s “black ordinance” that effectively gives control over administrative services to the lieutenant governor, overruling a Supreme Court order in favor of the Kejriwal government. .

AAP’s Delhi convenor Gopal Rai said in a press conference that this ordinance shows that the Center will impose such ‘dictatorial decisions’ on the country.

He appealed to the people of Delhi to participate in the rally in large numbers.

The Center had on May 19 promulgated an ordinance to create the National Capital Civil Services Authority for transfer and disciplinary proceedings against IAS and DANICS cadre officers.

This comes a week after the Supreme Court handed over control of services, except police, public order and services related to land, to the elected government in Delhi.

“This black ordinance has made it clear that the BJP-led central government will impose such dictatorial decisions on the country. That’s why you along with the people of Delhi have decided to launch a campaign against it.

Rai said, “On June 11, the people of Delhi will gather for a ‘Maha Rally’ at Ramlila Maidan to express their anger against this ordinance.”

After the Supreme Court verdict, the AAP leader said, “The way the central government and the prime minister have issued the ordinance, it is a betrayal of the trust of the people of Delhi.”

“Through this conspiracy, the rights of the citizens of Delhi have been hijacked. Ever since this ordinance has been promulgated, you all are seeing that BJP leaders are praising this black ordinance and beating their chest with pride.

Rai said that the Supreme Court gave a chance to the government elected by Delhiites to run Delhi’s bureaucratic system on the basis of accountability and transparency.

He said, ‘What the Modi government has done in arrogance of power is not only an insult to the elected government of Delhi but also to two crore people of Delhi.’

He said that the people of Delhi have been fighting to make it a full state since Madan Lal Khurana was the Chief Minister.

He said, ‘Now the BJP says that it will not allow Delhi to remain half or even a quarter of the state. Now all the decisions of Delhi will be taken by the Lieutenant Governor.

Rai said that in the light of these dangerous circumstances, AAP has decided to launch a campaign to oppose this ordinance along with the people of Delhi.

He appealed to the people of Delhi, irrespective of their political affiliation, to join AAP’s ‘Maha Rally’ and raise their voice against the ordinance.

“If democracy is murdered in the capital of India, we all have to stand together. Otherwise, democracy will be killed in the country as well and the country will go back centuries. Our fight against his dictatorship will continue.”

Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal met his Bihar counterpart Nitish Kumar here on Sunday and called for opposition unity to take on the BJP.

Kejriwal said he would meet leaders of various parties to ensure that no bill to replace the recent central ordinance is passed in the Rajya Sabha.
