Seven from NDA and RJD file nomination papers for 4 seats | Patna News – Times of India

PATNA: Three candidates from the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) and four from the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) filed their nomination papers in the state on Thursday for four Lok Sabha seats going to polls in the first phase on April 19. The four seats where elections will be held in the first phase are Gaya, Aurangabad, Nawada and Jamui.
The NDA candidates who filed their papers included Jitan Ram Manjhi from Gaya, Vivek Thakur from Nawada and Arun Bharti from Jamui.Nominations were also filed by RJD candidates Abhay Kushwaha from Aurangabad, Archna Ravidas from Jamui, Kumar Sarvjeet from Gaya and Shrawan Kushwaha from Nawada.
Fromer chief minister Manjhi, the founder of Hindustani Awam Morcha (Secular), is trying his luck from Gaya Lok Sabha constituency for the fourth time. The only difference is that the 79- year-old stalwart has been fielded as an NDA candidate this time and he hopes to gain from PM Naredra Modi’s popularity.
On the past three occasions, he had unsuccessfully contested as Congress, JD(U) and HAM(S) candidates. Addressing a public function at Gaya’s Gandhi Maidan, deputy CM and state BJP president Samrat Choudhary claimed it would be “80:20” fight in Bihar. “With the support of 80 % people in Bihar, NDA govt will be formed at the Centre on June 4,” Samrat said. He alleged that during the RJD regime, no reservation benefits came to mahadalits and extremely backward castes while Lalu Prasad reserved seats for his family members.
“Lalu has now given party tickets to his two daughters Misa Bharti and Rohini Acharya,” he said. Lok Janshakti Party (Ram Vilas) chief Chirag Paswan said Holi would be celebrated on June 4 after the victory of NDA candidates on all the 40 Lok Sabha seats in the state. In Nawada, several top NDA leaders, including Union minister Giriraj Singh were present during the filing of nomination by BJP candidate Vivek Thakur.
Nawada jailbreak accused Ashok Mahto, along with senior RJD leaders, accompanied RJD candidate Kushwaha. Besides, two prominent Independent candidates – Vinod Yadav, brother of jailed RJD leader Raj Ballabh Yadav, and folk singer Gunjan Singh – also filed their nomination papers in Nawada. In Jamui, Chirag said his brother-in-law who filed his nomination as NDA candidate from Jamui, would prove better than him.
“Please give him a chance to serve you,” Chirag urged the people. Abhay Kushwaha filed his papers as RJD candidate from Aurangabad from where former Congress MP Nikhil Kumar was planning to contest. BJP candidate from this seat, Sushil Kumar Singh, has already filed his nomination papers. (With inputs from Alok Kumar in Gaya and S B Sinha in Nawada)
