PM Narendra Modi will inaugurate the new Parliament House on 28 May. Sengol will also be housed in this new building. Sengol is a kind of symbol of power transfer. At the time of independence, the then PM Jawaharlal Nehru had taken it from the British.

Giving this information in a press conference, Home Minister Amit Shah said, after independence, the Congress government had forgotten Sengol. But PM Modi will install it in the new Parliament House. This will be a reflection of the Amrit Mahotsav of Independence. Sengol is a tradition from the Chola dynasty.
