Shahid Kapoor, who made his debut in 2003 with Ishq Vishk, recently completed 20 years in Indian cinema.

It’s been 20 years since Shahid Kapoor entered the film industry with Ishq Vishk in 2003. In his pursuit of excellence, Shahid Kapoor has shed his boy-next-door image and is venturing into uncharted territories to explore his potential. Collaborating with ace filmmaker Ali Abbas Zafar for his upcoming project, Bloody Daddy, Shahid is all set to redefine his on-screen persona once again. Produced by Geo Cinema, the film promises to showcase the exceptional acting prowess of Shahid Kapoor in a role that will undoubtedly leave the audience spellbound.

With each project, Shahid Kapoor continues to challenge himself, choosing unconventional storylines and characters that push him beyond his comfort zone. Highlighting the same, Shahid Kapoor during an interaction with Pinkvilla shared the best advice he got on acting from his father, veteran actor-director Pankaj Kapur. Recalling his father’s insightful words, Shahid Kapoor spoke about how Pankaj Kapur made him believe that his true potential as an actor would eventually unleash the star.

“You know, my father said: ‘Now you’re doing these ‘hero’ roles with pretty actresses, you’re cute and charming – like the boy-next-door. And it’s getting you popularity. But, There is an actor inside you. And when you give a good performance or a good scene someday, you will feel like a lion that tasted blood for the first time. After that, you will be satisfied with nothing less,” Shahid Kapoor said.

Furthermore, the actor expressed his perspective on stardom and the path that has taken him to where he is today in his career. He emphasized that while external popularity and praise from others can be gratifying, true satisfaction comes from inner happiness, growth and development as an artist. For Shahid Kapoor, the journey to engage creatively, continuously grow and improve is the essence of becoming a true professional and ultimately leaving a great mark.

He further revealed why he now chooses great characters, impactful films and memorable scenes to perform. “It’s a richer, more lasting and more dignified journey. And that’s just what I’ll always choose. I’ll always pursue great characters, great movies, great scenes, great moments that touch me, and scenes that I can’t forget after 20 years because he was so brilliant, no matter where the technology is. That’s what real cinema means to him.

Both Shahid Kapoor and his father Pankaj Kapur have had the opportunity to share the screen in some notable films. Both appeared in films like Mausam and Shaandaar. Meanwhile, Shahid was last seen in Farzi opposite Raashi Khanna, a project produced by Raj and DK.
