Shahid Kapoor puts to rest all the rumors about charging Rs 40 crore for his upcoming film.

Everyone knows what a fine actor Shahid Kapoor is through his path-breaking performances in films like Haider and Kaminey. Her most recent OTT debut with Farzi also grabbed headlines. And now Shahid has an upcoming film ‘Bloody Daddy’, a glimpse of which was shared by the actor earlier. Now Shahid Kapoor has clarified whether he really charged Rs 40 crore for this role.

During the film’s trailer launch, when a reporter asked about the price quoted to the actor, the film’s director Ali Abbas Zafar quickly replied that it was more than that. While Shahid Kapoor made fun of it, he later told The Indian Express that someone had said it as a joke, “Kisne bol diya mazak mein, bina soch samjhe (somebody said it in jest without thinking), and Everyone picked it up. No one will give me work after this news.” he explained.

Further stressing on the importance of a big cheque, Shahid Kapoor said, “I wish I had that side. Aisa nahi hota hai (It never happens). Honestly, I sometimes wish I could , everyone wants to be rich but it’s really hard. I won’t act for money, maybe do something else. I’m very passionate about it. Also, it’s about feeling, you have May not always be 10/10 and may be around 6 or 7. But working with 4/10 just for money is dishonest to my craft. I cannot be dishonest.”

He said, “You see, how much passion my parents (Pankaj Kapoor and Neelima Azeem) had for their work. He was not a millionaire or a trillionaire and led a relatively humble life. He may have been an established, highly acclaimed and credible artist but he was not a multi-crore superstar. He was my hero, my father and mother. His ability and passion for his work has stayed with me. And I can’t get it out of my system.

Speaking on his approach towards his craft, Shahid Kapoor expressed that it is important for him to be associated with this project. He shared, “If I feel I connect with the script, that is fine and if not, I discuss it with the team. If film is the business model, then as an actor, I have to Looks like you are a board member. So you can’t come as an employee, you have to be a partner and add value to the product. If that’s not happening then why am I being paid that amount, or why so much importance being given? And I want to work in a way where there is a collaborative process. In simple words, I take the story forward and add a little bit of myself to it. By doing this I also feel that I am in that central role. I am well enough to live.”
