Shahnawaz Urges Muslims To Vote For Nda Candidates | Patna News – Times of India

Patna: Former minister and national BJP spokesperson Shahnawaz Hussain on Tuesday appealed to the people of Muslim community to vote for the NDA candidates. Incidentally, the BJP has not fielded any Muslim candidate in the state. The JD(U) is the only party in NDA to field a Muslim face as it announced Mujahid Alam as its Kishanganj candidate.
“People of Muslim community should believe in ‘sabka saath sabka vikas’ motto of PM Narendra Modi and vote for the NDA candidates, cutting across caste and religion,” Hussain said while talking to reporters here.
Asked about BJP not fielding any Muslim candidate in the state, Hussain said the party contesting only 17 seats could not have given representation to every caste and religion.
“In the NDA, JD(U) has given ticket to a Muslim candidate for the Kishanganj seat and the BJP will work for his victory,” he said, adding the BJP has fielded a Muslim academic in Kerala’s Calicut.
Hussain was first elected to Lok Sabha from Kishanganj in 1999 and also became youngest Union minister in the cabinet of former PM Atal Bihari Vajpayee. Later, he was elected from Bhagalpur in 2006 in a by-election, and also in the 2009 parliamentary elections. However, he lost in 2014. Subsequently, he became MLC and was inducted into the state cabinet when CM Nitish Kumar formed the NDA govt after winning 2020 assembly elections.
“The BJP has given me more than anyone in the party,” Hussain said.
He said those questioning the BJP for denying tickets to some sitting MPs were not doing justice to the party. “During the elections, every vote cast for the NDA candidates will work to make Narendra Modi the country’s PM again,” Hussain said.
He challenged AAP functionary Atishi to reveal the name of the person who had approached her to join BJP. “If she does not reveal the name of that person, she is making a false allegation,” Hussain said.
