Tharoor besieged the government on its relationship with China. Said- There is no clarity from the government on China policy.
Congress leader and MP Shashi Tharoor has again praised Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday. He said that initially I was critical of PM Modi in terms of foreign policy. But now I feel he has done a better job on all fronts. Our relations with Muslim countries have never been better than they are now.
Earlier, on International Yoga Day on June 21, Tharoor had praised PM Modi. He had reacted to a Congress post. The Congress had posted a photograph of former Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru holding a headstand on Twitter. He wrote, ‘Thanks to Pandit Nehru, who popularized yoga and made it a part of the national policy.’
On this, he retweeted and wrote that ‘Absolutely, we should thank our government as well as those who have revived and popularized yoga. He tagged PMO, MEAINDIA. He said that he took Yoga Day to the international level through the United Nations.
Appreciates Modi for making G20 a talking point
Tharoor said that I remember, in the first year after Modi became the Prime Minister, he had visited 27 countries. Not a single one of them was an Islamic country. As a Congress MP, I had also created a ruckus on this.
Now I am happy to say that what he has done to reach out to the Islamic world is exemplary. Really it couldn’t get better than this. Our relations with major Muslim countries have never been better. Tharoor said that I am happy to withdraw my initial criticism.
He also praised the Modi government for making the G20 a topic of discussion. He said, India performed brilliantly in G-20. The world can no longer ignore India.

Tharoor questioned the central government’s policy regarding China. He said that the government has given China a free hand to encroach against India. Our relations with China are at a crossroads. There is no clarity from the government on China policy. There is no discussion on China in Parliament. The ban on Chinese apps was just a sham.

Reacting to Tharoor’s statement, Bharatiya Janata Party’s IT-cell chief Amit Malviya said that Shashi Tharoor, perhaps in a moment of weakness, has finally spoken the truth.
