Shatrughan Sinha reveals wife Poonam’s misunderstanding over daughter Sonakshi’s birth: ‘Pura filmy scene ho gaya tha’ | – Times of India

At the Sahitya AajTak 2024 event, veteran actor Shatrughan Sinha took a trip down memory lane to share a heartwarming anecdote from the time of his daughter Sonakshi Sinha‘s birth. He revealed that during this special moment in his life, there was a cinematic twist where his wife Poonam felt that Shatrughan was unhappy upon welcoming a baby girl.
Recalling the day when Sonakshi entered the world, Shatrughan clarified that he was for Goutam Ghose’s Bengali film Antarjali Jatra in West Bengal’s Asansol.During the climax shoot of the film, he received the joyful news of his daughter’s birth.
“I was playing a ‘chandal’ in Antarjali Jatra, and Sonakshi was born during the making of this 1987 film. After the climax was shot, Goutam came to me with the good news. He broke the news that we were blessed with a baby girl. I was still covered in mud, sporting a long beard. That is how I was supposed to look,” Shatrughan recalled.

He swiftly made his way from the film set in Asansol to Mumbai’s Nanavati Hospital to catch a glimpse of his newborn daughter. However, his shady appearance led to a misunderstanding upon his arrival.

Shatrughan revealed that his wife Poonam initially misinterpreted his appearance as a sign of disappointment upon learning that they had welcomed a baby girl. “Pura filmy scene ho gaya tha!” he exclaimed. However, he was quick to clarify that he was overjoyed by the birth of his daughter because he was praying for a daughter after the birth of his twin sons, Luv and Kush.
“Hum bahot khush the (I was very happy). I had been praying for my daughter for quite some time. After the birth of twins – Luv and Kush – I wanted a daughter. I explained to her that I arrived directly from the film’s set and didn’t grow facial hair because I was unhappy!,” Shatrughan concluded.
