Shazam Update: Identify Songs with Headphones On | – Times of India

Shazam, the ubiquitous song identification app, just received an important update: the ability to recognise songs playing within other apps, even when users are wearing headphones.
With its latest update, Shazam has made it easier than ever to identify songs playing in other apps. No longer will users have to interrupt their TikTok or Instagram sessions to find out the name of a catchy tune.Shazam’s enhanced capabilities allow it to listen to audio playing in various apps, whether it’s a popular TikTok soundtrack, a YouTube video, or even a background beat in an Instagram reel. This feature is set to change the way users discover and enjoy music across different platforms.
“You can now identify music while wearing headphones (wired or Bluetooth). Simply open the app, check for the headphone icon to confirm your headphones are connected, and then start recognising music around you or within apps like TikTok, Instagram, and YouTube,” said Apple about the Shazam update.
This feature doesn’t discriminate between wired or wireless headphones either. Whether you’re rocking classic earbuds or sporting wireless headphones, the feature works.
Apple had acquired Shazam back in December 2017. Apple’s acquisition of Shazam has opened doors for further integration within its products and services. By incorporating Shazam’s functionality into Siri and Apple Music, Apple aimed to enhance user experiences and provide seamless music discovery options to its customers. Shazam’s innovative technology allows users to identify songs by capturing a short audio sample, making it a valuable addition to Apple’s ecosystem. The addition of recognising songs while wearing headphones is a big plus for those who use Shazam regularly. Two years ago in 2022 Shazam celebrated its 20th anniversary with 70 billion all-time Shazams.
