Speaking to reporters, Bawankule also cautioned that commenting on the Supreme Court verdict before it is pronounced, amounts to contempt of court.

Ahead of the Supreme Court verdict on the Shiv Sena-centric political crisis in Maharashtra, state BJP chief Chandrashekhar Bawankule on Wednesday claimed that the ruling Shiv Sena-BJP alliance can prove its majority by securing more than 184 votes in the 288-member assembly.

Speaking to reporters, Bawankule also cautioned that commenting on the Supreme Court verdict before it is pronounced, amounts to contempt of court.

The top court in March this year reserved its verdict on a batch of cross-petitions filed by the Uddhav Thackeray and CM Eknath Shinde factions related to last year’s political crisis in the state, seeking disqualification of 16 Shiv Sena MLAs (of Shinde’s party). Demand was also included. Revolted against Thackeray’s leadership.

Even the Leader of the Opposition (Ajit Pawar) and Sharad Pawar know that there is no threat to the current Eknath Shinde-BJP government. But if needed, we will prove majority by winning more than 184 votes in the state assembly.

He said some people are speculating about the verdict and if the apex court takes cognizance, it may initiate strict action.

Bawankule was responding to comments by some opposition leaders, in which he had reportedly said that CM Shinde would resign before the apex court’s decision.

He said that the upcoming elections would be fought under the guidance of CM Shinde and Deputy CM Devendra Fadnavis.

The next government of the Shiv Sena-BJP alliance will also be formed. Together we will win 48 Lok Sabha seats and also win the assembly elections (in the second half of 2024).”

Bawankule said that the State BJP has started ‘Ghar Chalo Abhiyan’ to reach one crore households.

“Under this campaign, we are planning to reach out to 60,000 households and strengthen booths in each assembly constituency in Maharashtra. We will take the welfare schemes launched by the central and state governments to the common man.”

Bawankule also talked about organizational change in the state BJP by May 15. From May 20 to June 10, district heads and Tehsil office bearers will be appointed.
