Lucknow: Journalists of two leading Hindi dailies, who were drinking tea in a restaurant in Raipur police station area, were shot late in the evening. Sonbhadra District Seoni.

Describing the sequence of the incident, Sonbhadra Additional Superintendent of Police Vinod Kumar Singh said that at around 8.30 pm, two journalists Shyam Sundar Pandey and Laddu Pandey were having tea while sitting in a restaurant located in Khaliyari Bazaar.
“Meanwhile, two unidentified miscreants, who were riding bikes and wearing helmets, reached the spot and fired two-three rounds of bullets, injuring both of them and fled from the spot,” Singh said.
The incident created a panic-like situation and the local people immediately informed the police.
ASP Singh said that the two were first taken to the community health center in Vaini area, where the doctor referred them to the district hospital and further to BHU Medical College.
“As of now, we are yet to ascertain the motive behind the incident. Both the journalists are out of danger and we will record their statements soon,” Singh said.
An FIR is being registered in the matter, while the local people present at the tea shop are also being questioned about the registration and manufacture of the bikes used by the attackers.
