Showsha Reel Awards 2024: Shabana Azmi And Tota Roy Choudhury Win Best Supporting Actors – News18

Congratulations are in order as Shabana Azmi and Tota Roy Choudhury won big at the News18 Showsha Reel Awards 2024. The actors bagged the Best Supporting Actress and Best Supporting Actor, respectively. Coincidentally, both the stars won the award for their performance in Karan Johar’s Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani. The actors walked on stage to accept their awards.

Shabana won praise for her soul-stirring role as Jamini Chatterjee, Rani’s grandmother, in Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani. Her stellar performance in the film earned her great reviews from far and wide and made her the talk of the town once again.

Meanwhile, Tota Roy Choudhury, a celebrated Bengali actor, made his Bollywood debut with Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani. He played the character of Chondon Chatterjee, Alia Bhatt’s father, in the movie. His moving performance, especially the Dola Re Dola performance with Ranveer Singh, won hearts over. His performance was the talk of the town for many months, solidifying the fact that Tota’s character is an embodiment of perseverance and skill.

This year, Triptii Dimri (Animal), Dimple Kapadia (Tu Jhoothi Main Makkaar/Pathaan), Shabana Azmi (Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani), Konkona Sensharma (Kuttey),  Jaya Bachchan (Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani) and Churni Ganguly ((Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani) were nominated for Best Supporting Actress award.

Once again, fans and audiences had to make a tough decision while voting for ‘Best Supporting Actor Male’ as this year’s nominations list was nothing short of incredible. The nominees were Vijay Varma (Jaane Jaan), Vicky Kaushal (Dunki), Tota Roy Choudhury (Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani), Anil Kapoor (Animal), Gajraj Rao (Satyaprem Ki Katha), Annu Kapoor (Dream Girl 2) and Ashutosh Rana (Pathaan).

News18 Showsha Reel Awards 2024 took place on March 9 at Mumbai’s Taj Land’s End. The awards show was attended by Karan Johar, Bobby Deol and more.
