Siblings thrown off Pachpaoli bridge after drunk motorist rams scooter | Nagpur News – Times of India

NAGPUR: A brother and his sister were thrown off the Pachpaoli bridge when a car collided with their scooter on Monday during Holi celebrations. The driver of the car, suspected to be intoxicated, caused the collision, said police.
The siblings, Mohd Irfan Ansari (31) and his sister Fauziya Fahad Ansari (21), were heading home at Teka naka after picking her up from Mominpura when the accident occurred.
The siblings, now recuperating at a private hospital, were seriously injured after landing on the road from around 40 feet height.
Eyewitnesses reported that the car crashed into the scooter, sending the siblings over the bridge and onto the road below. While bystanders rushed them to the hospital, the driver was apprehended and handed over to the police.
Members of the minority community, which had thronged the Pachpaoli police station, had demanded strict action against the driver, leading to his arrest.
The incident has sparked concerns about road safety and the consequences of driving under the influence of alcohol.
