Karnataka Elections 2023: The problem will not end with Siddaramaiah’s announcement of being CM for five years, experts said. Political analysts believe that the second round of problems will start with the formation of the cabinet and the division of portfolios.

Siddaramaiah will be the chief minister of Karnataka for five years, senior Congress leader MB Patil said, adding that there is no power-sharing agreement.

Siddaramaiah will be the chief minister for five years. If there was an agreement of power sharing, senior leaders would have informed. There is no proposal to share power for 30 months. If there was such an agreement, KC Venugopal would have told us,” Patil said on Monday.

a report in the sunday guardian Said two days ago that there was no truth in the claims that the chief minister’s post would rotate between two top leaders, Siddaramaiah and DK Shivakumar.

The report quoted its source as saying, “The issue has been resolved. This is the mandate of the people. Elected MLAs have reposed their faith in Siddaramaiah. He is a generous person. He is Mr. Clean in Indian politics. There is no allegation against him, no allegation of corruption. There is no nepotism either. He is the Obama of Indian politics (Former US President Barack Obama).

Many in the Congress had earlier claimed that the CM’s post would be shared by Siddaramaiah and Shivakumar for 30 months, with the latter continuing as KPCC president till next year’s Lok Sabha elections.

the sunday guardian Political scientist and poll analyst Sandeep Shastri is quoted as saying: “It was expected (Shivkumar staking claim for the chief minister’s post) as DKS was jockeying for the best deal. And he got it.”

“What I have called 1+1+1, election of deputy CM, portfolios, and continuation as KPCC president. It will be an interesting partnership that will need to be nurtured consciously and kept on track.

However, former journalist and political analyst Thiagaraj Sharma is of the opinion that the fight for the CM post between Siddaramaiah and Shivakumar “could flare up anytime”.

“It is difficult to predict the time frame but definitely there will be a ceasefire for some time but it is a discontinuity. It can flare up anytime. I certainly suspect it’s not going to operate smoothly at this point. Even in the Lok Sabha elections, if the Congress does not do well in the Lok Sabha polls, both Siddaramaiah and Shivakumar will blame each other for the defeat,” Sharma was quoted as saying.

Experts say that Siddaramaiah’s announcement of being chief minister for five years will not solve the problem. The report quoted political analysts as saying that the second round of problems would begin with the formation of the cabinet and the distribution of portfolios.

Tyagraj Sharma was further told that the dispute would also be over the distribution of portfolios as every community wanted a piece of the cake and it would not be possible for any government to ensure that everyone was happy.

“Issues will keep cropping up as the demand will not stop and both the factions will try to get more and more,” he said. It’s a tough job and how they handle it remains to be seen. But one thing is certain that it will not be easy for them.
