Former Punjab Congress chief Navjot Singh Sidhu met former party presidents Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Vadra in New Delhi on Thursday. Sidhu said that his commitment to his ‘leaders’ and the state of Punjab would remain unwavering. This was Sidhu’s first meeting with Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi Vadra on Thursday, after being released from jail on April 1 after serving a one-year sentence in the road rage case. In this regard, Sidhu gave information by tweeting. He wrote- Today in New Delhi met my Guru Rahul ji and friend, philosopher, guide Priyanka ji. You can put me in jail, intimidate me, block all my financial accounts but my commitment to Punjab and my leaders will neither bow down nor move back an inch!

Sidhu was sentenced to one-year imprisonment by the Supreme Court in May last year in connection with the 1988 road rage case in which he allegedly thrashed a man named Gurnam Singh. He later died in the hospital.

Soon after his release from jail, Sidhu had said that democracy was in shackles and there was a conspiracy to impose President’s rule in Punjab. Minorities are being targeted. If you try to weaken Punjab, you will become weak.

Congress leader Rahul Gandhi has recently been disqualified as a Lok Sabha MP. On this, Sidhu had said that the former MP from Wayanad would shake the government. Whenever a dictatorship has come in this country, a revolution has also come and this time the name of that revolution is Rahul Gandhi. He will shake the government.

Meanwhile, Navjot Sidhu will reach Jalandhar on April 8 to meet the family of late Congress MP Santosh Chowdhary and share grief with them. The Congress has declared the wife of late MP Chowdhary as its candidate for the Jalandhar Lok Sabha bypoll. In this way Navjot Sidhu will return to the political activities of the state by campaigning in favor of the party candidate in Jalandhar along with meeting the Chaudhary family.
