Sikander Kher admits he stopped looking for job as he took his privilege for granted; says Anupam Kher, Anil Kapoor and Jackie Shroff still seek work | – Times of India

Sikander Kher acknowledges that at one stage in his life, he took his privilege for granted and didn’t actively pursue work despite being unemployed. He reflects that perhaps he became too comfortable in his situation.
During a recent interview with Siddharth Kannan, Sikander revealed that prior to the emergence of OTT platforms, he experienced a period of unemployment lasting a couple of years. However, he confessed to not actively seeking out work during this time. Sikander attributed this to a sense of comfort, as he didn’t face financial pressures such as rent or food expenses while living in Mumbai.

While observing his father Anupam Kher and his contemporaries Anil Kapoor and Jackie Shroff actively pursuing work, Sikander admits that the idea of approaching people for opportunities has never crossed his mind until now.

Sikander noted the persistent efforts of his father, Anupam Kher, Anil Kapoor, and Jackie Shroff in actively seeking work opportunities. They consistently inquire about potential projects and express interest in collaborating. Reflecting on his own approach, Sikander explained that he refrained from similar actions not because he felt it was beneath him, but rather due to a sense of comfort.

However, Sikander’s passion for acting eventually drove him to take action. He experienced a moment of realization and felt a surge of determination. Without hesitation, he began reaching out to both acquaintances and strangers, starting his outreach at 10:30 in the morning. He avoided messaging earlier, fearing it might seem too early, and refrained from waiting until 11, concerned that it might give the impression of waking up late.
Sikander Kher embarked on his acting journey with Sanjay Gupta’s film ‘Woodstock Villa’ in 2008. Since then, he has appeared in various movies such as ‘Players,’ ‘Aurangzeb,’ ‘Romeo Akbar Walter,’ and ‘The Zoya Factor,’ among others. Throughout his career, Sikander has found inspiration in Jackie Shroff, whom he regards as his role model among all the actors he has collaborated with.

Sikander Kher expressed his admiration for Jackie Shroff, describing him as his inspiration not just as an actor, but as a person. Having known Shroff since childhood and also having worked with him, Sikander finds him to be a beacon of kindness. Witnessing Shroff’s interactions with others on set reinforces Sikander’s belief in the beauty of kindness.
