Sisodia Pens Open Letter: Struggle For Good Edu, Schools Will Continue | Delhi News – Times of India

New Delhi: Former deputy chief minister Manish Sisodia has penned an open letter from jail to residents of his constituency, Patparganj, reiterating his commitment towards education for children.
In the letter, Sisodia said the struggle for good education and schools for children was under way, just like people had fought for the country’s freedom.
“Education revolution zindabad.Love you all,” wrote Sisodia, who had held the education portfolio in Delhi govt before his arrest. He added that he will soon be out of jail.
Sisodia was arrested in Feb 2023 by CBI in a case related to alleged irregularities in formulation and implementation of the now rescinded Delhi excise policy.
Chief minister Arvind Kejriwal was arrested by the Enforcement Directorate last month on the charges of money laundering linked to the same excise policy.
Both are in Tihar Jail. A court is scheduled to hear Sisodia’s bail plea on Saturday.
Aam Aadmi Party on Friday shared Sisodia’ letter on X. The AAP leader had compared his plight with the atrocities committed by the British against freedom fighters.
“The British rulers also had the arrogance of power and sent people to jail in false cases,” Sisodia said, adding that Mahatma Gandhi and Nelson Mandela, who spent many years in prison, were his inspiration.
“Despite the dictatorship of British rulers, the dream to achieve freedom was realised. Similarly, every child will get a good education one day,” Sisodia said, adding that this was necessary for a developed country.
The AAP leader said his love for the people of Patparganj had grown in jail. He said he got “around a dozen letters” from various parts of the country every day. He mentioned that he saw people waiting and peeping into his prison van during his court appearances to greet him and was deeply touched by their gesture.
Sisodia said his resolve towards ensuring a free and “magnificent” education system for all children had grown stronger. Education would make them capable of not only working in top companies in the world but also in setting up similar enterprises.
“Such an India was the dream of Gandhi, Bhagat Singh, Subhas Chandra Bose and BR Ambedkar,” he wrote.
Delhi BJP’s media cell head Praveen Kapoor and secretary Harish Khurana, in a joint statement, said Sisodia’s letter was an attempt to establish his “political relevance”.
