Soldier, friend held in Kerala for faking ‘attack by PFI’ | Thiruvananthapuram News – Times of India

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Police took into custody on Tuesday the soldier who complained that he was assaulted by a group of people who then forcibly painted “PFI” on his back as they suspect that he and his friend had faked the attack.
Kadakkal police took Shinekumar and his friend into custody after investigating the complaint filed by Shinekumar on September 24. Police also recovered the paint and brush used to paint the soldier’s back.
Police officers said the soldier faked the attack and painted “PFI” on his back on the last day of his leave; he was to return to his Army unit in Rajasthan on Tuesday. It is learnt that his friend and accomplice told police during interrogation that Shinekumar made him paint the letters on his back. Though he had also asked him to beat him up to make the incident look genuine, he had refused, the man said during interrogation, according to police sources. Both of them are being interrogated further.
With the complaint turning out to be false, the soldier may face serious legal consequences.
