Under the fresh summons, Sonia Gandhi is to appear before the Enforcement Directorate on June 23 in connection with the probe in the National Herald Money Laundering case.

Congress President Sonia Gandhi was on Monday discharged from Sir Ganga Ram Hospital and advised rest at home. The leader had tested positive for the novel coronavirus Due to issues on June 2 and post-Covid, the facility was being admitted from June 12.

The news was tweeted by Congress MP Jairam Ramesh, who said: “Congress President Smt. Sonia Gandhi has been discharged from Sir Ganga Ram Hospital this evening and has been advised to take rest at home.

Like senior party leader Rahul Gandhi, Sonia is also facing the National Herald Money Laundering investigation and has been summoned by the Enforcement Directorate under fresh summons on June 23. The 75-year-old leader was to appear before the central agency on June 8, but had sought more time due to his COVID-related illness.

Ramesh had earlier said that Sonia Gandhi was admitted to the hospital after excessive bleeding from the nose following a Kovid infection. He was immediately treated and a follow-up was done on June 15, they said. “A fungal infection was also detected in his lower respiratory tract upon admission. He is currently being treated, along with other post-Covid symptoms,” he had said on June 17.
